Srilankan Hope For Children

School trips, nice playgrounds and education seem to be so common in the life of many children. Unfortunately, not every child is granted the opportunity to develop as they should in Sri Lanka. The Dutch foundation Srilankan Hope For Children is committed to helping schools and homes improve their livelihoods by investing in educational facilities for their children, building secure shelters and provide them with resources to help improve their literacy and provide recreational activities. Children have the right to be given an opportunity to shape their future, to have dreams and to get inspired by positivity. Why would these chances not be granted to them?

The LC Supports Foundation decided to support Srilankan Hope For Children by donating a total of € 25,000 euros (€5,000 euros a year) since 2016. Every year our donation is spent on among others:

• Educational materials and computers
• Playgrounds and toys
• School trips
• Transportation to bring children to school

Green Heart donation
Via the so-called Green Heart Campaign 2019, initiated by LC Packaging, an extra amount of € 1,671 euros has been donated last year. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, investment plans have changed from long-term investment projects to emergency aid. 20 food packages for three months have been provided to the poorest families in the Mahaoya village, about 150 kms from Kandy. These parcels included wheat flour, dhal, sugar, rice, tea leaves, coconut oil, tinned fish, chocolates and more. Next to these food packages, each family received plants to grow their own food: 2 jacks, 12 capsicum and 12 green peppers. Preparations have also been made to install solar units that will provide 9 families, who live in wattle and daub houses, with electricity.  The children of these families received foldable tables to be able to study now that they have electricity and light.
