Wilderness Foundation Africa

Youth unemployment is one of the biggest challenges facing South Africa and there is a growing number of young people in neither employment, education or training. Wilderness Foundation Africa (WFA) is committed to see young people progressing from unemployment to employment by providing them with skills and vocational education. A conservation organisation working to protect and sustain wildlife and wilderness through integrated conversation and education programmes, WFA organizes modulised courses and a Wilderness Trail experience that will immerse youngsters in wilderness and nature – proven to have a positive change effect in their young lives.

The LC Supports Foundation supports Wilderness Foundation Africa by donating a total of € 10,000. With this donation, 15 youngsters can partake in:

1) a 10-day Siyazenzela training course that includes content on waste management an recycling principles for which LC Packaging experts will partake on topics such as financial literacy;
2) a Wildereness Trail where the youngsters will be split up into two groups with trail guides to allow for minimum impact on the environment;
3) monitoring and evaluation of their progress;
4) a graduation ceremony.

The project takes place in our own community in Pietermaritzburg where LC production facility LC Shankar is located. Next to financial support through the LC Supports Foundation, the local LC Packaging team in South Africa will be strongly involved throughout the year.
