Rohingya emergency
[This was a one-time donation]
Rohingya refugees have been fleeing violence in Myanmar at a staggering rate – and the numbers keep growing. They walk for days through jungles and mountains, or brave dangerous sea voyages across the Bay of Bengal. They arrive exhausted, hungry and sick – in need of international protection and humanitarian assistance. (source: UNHCR)
Since August 2017, it has been estimated that approximately 622,000 refugees have fled to Bangladesh. UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting human rights and building a better future for refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people. UNHCR is leading the emergency response in Bangladesh and has teams on the ground right now providing life-saving aid to refugees.
Our aim is to contribute to improving the welfare and environment of countries where LC Packaging is directly or indirectly active. That certainly applies to Bangladesh. No one should be stateless, cast out, hunted and live in fear. Therefore, we are more than happy to support UNHCR in helping the Rohingya refugees on one hand and on the other hand to relieve the pressure on the local population in Bangladesh.
In November 2017, LC Supports Foundation has donated €5,000 to support victims of this crisis.
